In 2020 Matt was awarded the Mark Mellor Award prize for Outstanding Contribution to the PR Industry by the PRCA.

Matt runs TfL’s award-winning 24-7 media relations operation and government relations, stakeholder engagement, employee communications and corporate communications functions.

He has launched the Elizabeth line and the Night Tube, secured primetime documentaries about TfL and has handled everything from royal visits to strikes, terror attacks and the pandemic.

Before TfL, Matt worked for the Mayor of London’s Press Office, the children’s charity Barnardo’s and the online political think tank openDemocracy.

In 2020 Matt was awarded the Mark Mellor Award prize for Outstanding Contribution to the PR Industry by the PRCA. He is also on the Board of the Independent Press Standards Organisation and on the Management Board of the PRCA.

Why did you sign up to be a judge for The Pros Awards 2024?

The Pros Awards is a fantastic, inspirational thing that shines a light on the brilliant BAME talent in our industry, which is too often overlooked.

What Insta/Twitter(X)/Tik Tok account should every comms pro follow and why?

Theunthanksband on Insta. Why would you not want to follow the goings on of one of Britain’s finest ever folk bands, who make bewitching music to break and mend hearts?

What was your favourite PR/comms story from 2023 and why?

People Like Us and their campaign ‘People Like Us are working, but being paid less’ – an important intervention into the issue of the diversity pay gap in the comms industry.
