Q&A

Why did you sign up to be a judge for The Pros Awards 2024?
It’s important to recognise the hard work that goes into these campaigns and to shine a light to the Black, Asian, Mixed Race and Ethnic Minority communications experts that are crafting these incredible stories! I love working in PR, but can’t stand the fact that some incredibly talented PR professionals feel out of place in our sector. Awards like these are crucial for making everyone aware of our impact in this industry and for inspiring the next generation of changemakers!
What was your favourite PR/comms story from 2023 and why?
The launch of the Barbie film is hands down the top PR story of 2023, Mattel did a brilliant job on the film’s launch. So much so, that at points you wondered who hadn’t partnered with them on the film’s launch. I loved how Airbnb tapped into the excitement for the film by inviting people to enter the competition to stay in Barbie’s Malibu DreamHouse!
What Insta/Twitter(X)/Tik Tok account should every comms pro follow and why?
Aldi’s Twitter/X account – The devil works hard, but the social media team at Aldi works harder. They’re so quick-witted and light-hearted, regularly making light of their very many ‘dupes’ and the randomness of the items that can be found on their middle aisle. They don’t always get things right, but you can see that they just go for it and experiment, making it really fun to engage with their accounts.

As before we’ve got a great DJ booked for The Pros Awards awards ceremony in July – what’s your dancefloor-filler request?
